Soletair Power signs agreement with Danica Pension on HVAC DAC Deployment in Aarhus, Denmark

An agreement has been signed between Danica Pension  and Soletair Power for the installation of a Direct Air Capture (DAC) system at Europaplads 6-8, DK-8000 Aarhus C, Denmark. This technology will be integrated with the building’s existing HVAC system, resulting in a reduction of the net carbon emissions for the building. The system will also be connected to the building’s automation system for further optimization.

This DAC unit has a gross capture capacity of approximately 20 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually.

• Latitude: 56.15319576186241
• Longitude: 10.211802151916363
• Capacity: 20 tCO2/year
• Facility Operational: In 2025
• Type of DAC: Solid sorbent
• End Use: TBD

Denmark sets CO2 emission thresholds for buildings

Last year, in January 2023, a Danish building regulation mandated that all new buildings in Denmark above 1000 square meters must meet an emission threshold set at 12 kg CO2e per square meter per year. This threshold is planned to become stricter over time. As the first Nordic country, Denmark limits values in their building regulation. DAC deployments in buildings will help reduce net emissions and meet compliance in such cases.

We are really happy to take this step forward toward making buildings regenerative.

About Soletair Power

Soletair Power is a Finnish company focusing on developing massively-scalable modular technologies to capture carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air. The main product is a direct air capture (DAC) system designed to be integrated with existing building ventilation systems (HVAC). This helps building owners reduce their carbon footprint through captured and avoided CO2 emissions and meet sustainability goals. Captured CO2 can be permanently stored and thus create a “carbon sink” effect for the building. Soletair Power has moved beyond the development stage and already delivered several DAC systems.
